Be Thankful

This past Sunday mass at my parish I witnessed something that caught me by surprise. The priest needed help walking up the stairs to reach the altar. One of the altar servers had to literally lend him a hand in walking up each and every step. When Fr. Gregory, the handicapped priest, walked you could tell instantly he that he was different since he limped every other step. Later on throughout the mass I realized that in order for him to give out the Eucharist, he had one of the altar servers hold the Eucharist so he could use his one viable hand. Watching this made me think how difficult it must be for a handicapped person. It must be inextricable just dealing with it let alone others looking at you as if you much differently. I give credit to those who are handicapped because our society seems to just overlook and push aside the handicapped. This is not just inconsiderate, but ignorant. These people are fighting and suffering from diseases, ignoring them is just unfair. They have emotions and feelings as well and deserve an equal amount of respect despite their irregularities.

A good paradigm for the handicapped is Helen Keller. She was the first deaf blind person to overcome society's wide gap by earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. That is amazing! She understood that someone was talking by placing her hand on the lips, nose, and throat of the speaker. The letters "n" and "m" she knew by the vibrations of the speakers nose. Each letter has a specific vibration throughout our lips, nose, and throat. Its extraordinary how she was able to understand a speaker with the help of Anne Sullivan, her educator. Anne Sullivan also taught Helen how to speak. Helen Keller went against the odds and proved to the whole world you can accomplish anything if you put your heart and mind to it!

Pivot Questionnaire

What is your favorite word? Hullabaloo. It means a loud noise. It's my favorite word because it is just so fun to say.

What is your least favorite word? Can't. It directly states that you are limiting yourself. You can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually, emotionally? Laughter and Happiness. It means people are having fun and a good time.

What turns you off? Violence against children. Children have very sensitive and fragile minds. If you abuse them it will affect them not only physically, but emotionally.

What is your favorite curse word? Motherfucka. It just makes me feel so powerful and ominous.

What sound or noise do you love? Squeezing out a bottle of ketchup. When you are eating dinner the last noise you want to hear is a noise which resembles a fart. Its just funny how it happens while you are so focused on your food.

What sound or noise do you hate? Burps. It portrays a lack of manners. But then again it's "better out than in"

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Professional Bass Fishermen. Fishing is so relaxing to me and I just love doing it.

What profession would you not like to do? Referre. It would tick me off when parents rant and rave at you for doing your job. Mind your own business and just watch the game! That is your job as a spectator!!!!!!!

If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? "To my right is Rachel and to my left is Bernese. Your choice?"

My Best Friend- THE BEAST

Consider loving someone so much that you would sacrifice a whole day just to be with this person. Well that is how I feel about one of my best friends, which I meet in high school. This friend has endured through my calamities and, in return, I have endured through his calamities as well. Once you miss someone this special in your life it makes you appreciate having that person by your side in both the good times and bad times.

Last year we embarked in a once in a lifetime experience "Down Under". To all you perverts out there it is another term for "Australia" and not literally getting down on some girl or guy. The main reason for us going to Australia was that our school took us to go to World Youth Day. World Youth Day (WYD) is when all young Catholic come together to pray and worship with the pope. On the second to last night we had to "sleep under the stars". Unfortunately, we did sleep outside and woke up with wet, and soggy sleeping bags. Despite all these hardships in Australia, my friend and I had a blast!!! If I were to choose a favorite moment in that entire trip it would be the last night. My friend and I were just relaxing in our room. We were encapsulating the whole trip with jokes, and hysterical stories. This journey to Australia was not only a literal journey but a journey in my relationship with my best friend. Come to think of it reverting back to these memories makes me appreciate having someone by your side in both the cheerful times and gloomy times.

I really love Reading!

When I open a novel I feel my mind is soaring off of the surface of the Earth and into a land far, far away where ideas, thoughts, and actions are boundless. The only way to enter into this far away place is simply by letting your imagination bring you through the twists and turns of the novel. Reading a novel is analogous to eating an ice cream on a waffle cone. When you eat an ice cream on a waffle cone you have to have patience to savor the moment. In reading it takes time to be impressed in the experience the author writes about. The verbs, and adjectives in a novel is like the sprinkles and chocolate swirls to an ice cream. All of these add an oomph and zest to what it is you are enjoying. You can't be racing to go through an ice cream cone in one shot or speeding through a novel in an hour. If you do that it makes these activities seem like a chore, but actually these simple moments will be cherished deep into your heart.

Letting your imagination flow with ideas, images, and actions, which only you can uniquely imagine, allows you to go back into the past, present, or even future. Why not fly a kite with Benjamin Franklin and witness his groundbreaking discovery of electricity? Go further back in time and think of what it must have been like to be a dinosaur running recklessly throughout the world and clawing each others brains out to survive and be the alpha male. If you enjoy sports revert back to when Babe Ruth was slamming home runs or even back to when Lou Gehrig created his famous "Today I am luckiest man in the world" speech, which echoed throughout all of Yankee Stadium.

This is just the history portion of books! There are fantasy, fiction, classical, even science fiction sections. Basically anything you can think of a book is out there ready to be opened and enjoyed.

You catch my drift that reading is one of my favorite hobbies. Our society can be so provincial and uniform, but reading doesn't follow any standards or give into such trivialities like our culture and society. Everytime I open a book I encounter a place where only I can go and endeavor in a long memorable journey. If you don't read you are missing out in a whole new dimension!

DREAM GIRL

Walking so chicly,

ever so discreetly

you must make the men go wild.

I walk past you

and you stand like a statue

staring me straight into my eyes.

I ignore the stare

and look up in mid air

acting as if I didn't care.

Doing this made me

feel like a fool

who was trying to act cool.

I didn’t even get a chance to say “Hi”

for I was shy.

I detect a connection

but sense much rejection.

Hopefully the next time

we see each other

You and I will talk to one another.

The First Omelette I ever made

Curious on a Sunday morning, I randomly thought of making myself an omelette. The only problem was that I didn't know how to make it, so I looked it up online. Once I garnered the ingredients and culminated them together it was time to chow down! I chose broccoli, American cheese, and Swiss cheese as the filling to my omelette. Before I ate the omelette I decided to try some of the exercises we did in class with the raisin. I stared, smelt, touched, and tasted my omelette, and wrote down how I perceived it:

Cheeses melting,
Eggs sizzling,
Broccoli steaming
Pepper and Salt seasoning
made up my masterpiece.

All of these ingredients created a
symphony in my mouth
The Cheese is like the violinists
stroking strings to create a sensation
which is irresistible!
The Cheese resembled the string section
within the symphony of my mouth.

The Eggs sizzling on my plate represents
the soothing sounds of the flute.
Vibrant and resounding throughout a symphony
are attributes of a flute. It feels as if you were to fly in mid air
because the flute sounds like the wind humming its own tune.

The Broccoli is like the percussion section
of my omelette. It keeps the beat moving
and my taste buds drooling!

The pepper makes up the brass section.
The enticing taste of pepper adds flavor
to my masterpiece, just as the brass section
accrues astounding noises.

Last, but definitely not least is salt.
The salt is as if a piano came down
from heaven and played music so
elegant and sonorous that it would
make your soul melt within your body.

Although this love I had for my symphonic omelette
was only temporary, due to the fact that I ate it,
I still will always endear in my stomach
that wonderful feeling of eating such a magnificent
masterpiece which I had made with my own two hands.

Ambulance Drivers

Have you ever thought what it must feel like to be an ambulance driver? Today when I was driving an ambulance driver had his sirens on full blast. Luckily, it was second nature for me to get out of the way.

Ambulance drivers must have one of the most difficult jobs. They have to deal with inexperienced drivers having no clue what to do, red lights, pedestrians, and worst of all getting to the hospital to save lives. This reputable job is not an easy one!

To be an ambulance driver takes colossal amounts of courage, risks, and dedication. I give kudos to ambulance drivers because they must weave through roads, busy intersections, and TRAFFIC. God for bid a car was to collide with an ambulance driver he would take some fault in the loss of another’s life. It takes a strong and earnest individual to be an ambulance driver. I believe that an ambulance driver’s job is priceless because you can not put a price on saving another human being. The dedication of an ambulance driver is truly amazing and out of this world!

Haplessly, I have been in an ambulance once and it was not a fun experience. One day I was snowboarding with one of my friends who to say the least is a daredevil! My friend, Michael, was a much better snowboarder than I and I was trying to prove that he was not better than me. He went off these moguls (bump of hard snow) and being the man I am I went off it as well. Apparently I heard that my snowboard hit my nose while I was airborne, which, in turn, made my nose bleed and gave me a minor concussion. After the incident I was sent to the doctor by an ambulance. In the ambulance my entire body was aching from being attached to a board. To top it off my nose was clogged from all the blood from the accident. It felt as if I had a lot of bugars in my nose due to the fact that I could not breathe through my nose.

Jokes Straight up off the top of my head. Some may be inappropriate, but they are just jokes so don't take them too seriously!

What's the best way to make straight A's?
With a ruler.

Why do blondes always smile during lightning storms?
They think their picture is being taken.

What would you do if a blonde threw a hand grenade right at you?
You'd pull the pin and throw it back.

Yo Mama is so fat when she wears a yellow raincoat people yell "Taxi!"

Yo Mama is so fat that she fell in love and broke it.

Yo Mama is so fat that she has more Chin's than a Chinese phone book.

Yo Mama is so fat that she is on both sides of the family.

Yo Mama has so many teeth missing, it looks like her tongue is in jail.

Yo Mama is so stupid that she bought a solar powered flashlight.

Yo Mama is so stupid that she watches "The Three Stooges" and takes notes.

What did the egg say to the boiling water?
"It's going to take me a while to get hard, I just got laid by a chick"

The doctor says to a man. I got bad news and worse news. The man says, "Whats the man news?"The docter says "You only have 24 hrs to live." He says "What's the worse news?" The doctor replies, "I forgot to call you yesterday."

This guy goes hunting with his friend and tells his friend, "O My Lord I can see your house from here and your wife is cheating on you with another man." He says "I have had it with her. Shoot him in the head and shoot him in the private parts." He said, "I'll get that in one shot!"

How to go to Sleep

The first thing to do before you go to bed is to place your, warm, fluffy blanket over your entire body. Some people don't do this but they are missing out on so much comfort. The next step to this simple activity is to just rest your head on your pillow. Some type of sleepers rest their head on the side or on the back of their head. The third step is to shut your eyes and breathe deeply. Breathing deeply helps your mind tell your body that you are about to relax and indulge in a long and peaceful sleep. This step is vital in the process to sleep. If you just can't sleep I would suggest counting sheep jumping over a fence (as lame as it sounds it does work!), reading a book, or just thinking about how your day was. Eventually you are bound to fall asleep if you follow these steps.

My Summer

This past summer I mostly relaxed which was a major change from my hectic and stressful senior year. I got to sleep late some days but not all due to my job. I was thankful to be able to make some dough over the summer so I would be able save it for the future. Besides working and sleeping late over the summer, I got to travel to Maine! =] In Maine I go to the beach. The beaches at Maine are so MUCH different than the beaches here on Long Island. The water is extremley cold and it took me a while to get used to the water before I jumped in. I don't understand how the water is so cold, yet lobsters can live in such cold water?! Lobster tastes MAD good!!!
